A note from Michelle
One of the best parts of this work is watching someone connect with a painting. A piece can make you smile, or cry, or simply stop and stare for a moment, and in that moment it shows you a side of yourself you may never have met before. That moment is the reason this gallery exists.
Every artist on these walls is here because the work earned its place, and many are showing in a gallery for the first time. We take that trust seriously. Collectors get the same care, over years rather than one sale: time to listen, to learn what moves you and where the work will live, and to find the piece that belongs in your home.
Framing is the part of this work I do with my own hands. The pieces that arrive with real age and history, a family letter, a medal, a painting a century old, a fragment with a story, are the ones I love most. Something that valuable is a trust, and the frame is built to carry it safely to the next generation.
We would love to meet you and visit with you in the gallery.
Artists and collectors
How we choose artists
Michelle selects every artist herself. The gallery represents emerging and established artists working in Western art, both contemporary and traditional. We look for work that belongs in this program, and we are honest with artists about what sells here and what does not.
What we do for collectors
We take the time to listen, to learn what moves you, what speaks to you, and what belongs in your home, then we help you find it without pressure. The relationship continues after the painting goes home, and many collectors return over the years to build and care for their collections.
Every piece on the website is available now. Call 406-363-4112 or send us a message, and we ship nationwide.
Framing on site
Every piece that comes to the counter carries a story, and the frame is built around it. We design with you at the counter from more than 2,000 mouldings and build every frame in our shop at 215 West Main, to one archival standard. A $200 print and a $20,000 painting get the same care.
Design consultations run about 45 minutes and are by appointment. Walk-ins are welcome.

What people say
"I have always been petrified to browse in an art gallery previously as I thought I might be judged if I couldn't afford the pieces. I have always been made to feel welcome here."
"Bought 4 incredible Colt Idol pieces for our log home in Victor MT... Their suggestions and ideas were spot on."

The building and the gallery
The McGrath Block was built in 1909 by Hamilton physician George McGrath and designed by architect A.J. Gibson. It has held doctors, dentists, a senator's office, clothing stores, bookstores and grocers. The embossed tin ceiling above the gallery is original.
Montana painter Robert Neaves opened the gallery here in 1993 as Art Focus. Michelle took ownership in 2019 and renamed it Cassens Fine Art in 2022. The name changed. The commitment to artists and collectors did not.
