this compelling exhibition wil feature captivating works created by six plein air painters during a four-day retreat hosted by cassens fine art at the breathtaking mad wolf ranch in browning, Montana.
Cassens Fine Art is thrilled to announce its inaugural artist retreat showcase, "Stories of the Soil: Scenes From Mad Wolf Ranch.” The exhibition will feature the works of six plein air painters including Jake Gaedtke, Richie Carter, Turner Vinson, Kenneth Yarus, Craig Birch, and Rick Kennington, created during a four-day artist retreat hosted by Cassens Fine Art at Mad Wolf Ranch in Browning Montana.
The exhibition will run from October 6th, 2023, through November 2nd, 2023 and an opening reception will be held on October 6th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Cassens Fine Art in Hamilton, Montana. The show promises to be an extraordinary celebration of art, nature, and the unparalleled spirit of artistic camaraderie.
“My hope is that viewers, when they come to see the show, feel drawn into that place collectively. I want them to sense that through all the artwork, not just my own paintings. There's a profound sense of peace there, and I hope that when people take my paintings home, they create a shared space of peace in their own environment,” said Kenneth Yarus, plein air artist from Kalispell, Montana and participant in the Mad Wolf Ranch Artist Retreat.
Mad Wolf Ranch is nestled just outside of East Glacier and offers wild, serene, and barely-touched scenery with panoramic views of the iconic peaks of Glacier National Park, including the renowned Mad Wolf Mountain, which lends its name to the ranch.
From the moment the artists set foot on the ranch for the retreat that took place August 10th - 13th, 2023, they were captivated by the fleeting sunrises and sunsets, the enchanting clusters of aspen trees, the untamed grasslands, and the Bison whose very presence embodies the history of this sacred land. Rolling hills and towering peaks cast their spell over the artists, inspiring them to capture the essence of this remarkable place, stroke by stroke.
The retreat, designed as an all-inclusive and unstructured experience, allowed these talented artists to fully immerse themselves in their craft while paying homage to the Native American People whose ancestral land Mad Wolf Ranch occupies.
“This inaugural artist retreat marks the commencement of a cherished tradition at Cassens Fine Art—a tradition that celebrates the intersection of art, nature, and the bond between artists,” said Michelle Cassens, Owner of Cassens Fine Art. “‘Stories of the Soil: Scenes from Mad Wolf Ranch’ invites art enthusiasts, collectors, and the community at large to witness the profound connection between artists and the land that inspires them.”
The public is invited to attend the opening reception on October 6th, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cassens Fine Art, located at 215 West Main St. Hamilton, Montana 59840. This is a unique opportunity to meet the artists, view their exceptional works, and immerse yourself in the enchanting Mad Wolf Ranch and the surrounding East Glacier landscapes.
